School for scandal
It is
disgraceful that Navoday Vidyalaya at Udaipur has earned infamy on
scandal for atrocity to woman teaching staff and girl students, - a
shameless repeatation of such inglorious act committed by the
teachers and the Principal himself. Even the life sentence awarded
to the previous Principal, Harishankar Tewari for such offence could
not even deter the incumbent principal D. Gunashekharan and his
cohorts. Thanks to the desperate high handedness of the principal
the academic atmosphere of the ideal institution has been vitiated.
It is apparent
that the Navodaya teachers did not take any lesson from the past.
How dare they could defile the ideal educational institutes which
are named after former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The Navodaya
Vidyalay authority should take steps with iron hand and make early
necessary arrangement for a thorough reshuffle in the teaching staff
and bring back the salutary atmosphere for healthy growth of the
academic environ.
As for the local
administration a thorough inquiry in the matter should be instituted
and the culprits involved be booked without delay. Because a teacher
with questionable character must not be allowed to remain in this
institution. He no longer holds any right to impart education to the
youngsters.
It is also
distressing to note that Principal D. Gunashekharan resorted to foul
play by inciting a group of students against the visiting Jela
Parishad Sabhanetri Maya Pal. Repeated scandals with involvement of
teachers and Principals Navodaya Vidyalaya has sent a wrong signal
about proper education and safety and security of the students. The
enthusiasm of the guardians to enrolled there children for study in
this institution is in the wane. It is learnt the representatives of
the Navodaya Vidyalay Samiti are arriving at Udaipur shortly. People
of Tripura must be convinced that the school for scandal should get
its original reputation as an ideal school for imparting fair
education. And the culprits should get the exemplary punishment that
they deserve. The dare devil D. Gunashekkaran and the like should
not consider that they are beyond reach of the long arms of the
laws.
