PM reviews economy

 RBI may inject more liquidity

 

New Delhi, Nov 17 (PTI): The Reserve Bank is likely to announce fresh measures to inject more funds into the cash-starved banking system following a meeting of the Prime Minister-chaired committee on tackling the global turmoil. "The meeting considered certain steps and RBI will look at them... Various methods of injecting liquidity through repo and reverse repo (short-term) rates were discussed," Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath told reporters after the meeting. Asked how soon the measures would be announced,Nath said, "This will happen in due course...it will not take long. The government is conscious of the fact that the Prime Minister himself is monitoring

Vehicle Deptt awakes, conducts prompt raid

Khowai, Nov 17 : Vehicles department of state government carried out whirlwind raids at Khowai town last two consecutive days following the ever deadliest road mishap at Gukulnagar under Bishalgarh subdivision on Saturday last. The mishap claimed life of ten persons while leaving more than thirty persons seriously injured. The raids here resulted in detention of several motor vehicles and spot fine of over rupees 26 thousand. Numberless Scooters, Bikes and four wheelers have been freely moving in the Subdivision for long is a regular allegation of all concerned citizen of the area.

Kanchanpur, Nov 17: Tripura State Cooperative Union organized a discussion on the occasion of 55th All India Cooperative Week at Kanchanpur Town Hall yesterday. State Cooperative minister Khagendra Jamatia inaugurated the function. In his inaugural speech, Mr. Jamatia highlighted on the role of cooperative for the formation of a developed India.
