Agartala, Sept 18: A new rural enterprise from Tripura's Dhalai district is bringing the natural flavour of Longtharai Valley to consumers through locally produced green tea, with rural women playing a central role in its production and promotion.

The green tea is produced by Nayan Self-Help Group (SHG) under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), through the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) at Chawmanu in Dhalai district. Marketed under the brand name “Dhalai Naturals,” the product is sourced from the hills of Longtharai Valley.

According to TRLM, the Longtharai Valley Green Tea is a natural product that aims to bring the freshness of the hill areas to consumers while creating livelihood opportunities for women associated with rural Self-Help Groups.

The product is available in a 30-gram pack with an MRP of Rs. 100, inclusive of all taxes, and has a shelf life of 12 months. Nayan SHG is identified as the producer, with the enterprise operating under BMMU Chawmanu.

TRLM has highlighted several potential health-related attributes of green tea, including its antioxidant content and its role in supporting heart health, immunity and weight management.

The initiative reflects the growing focus on strengthening women-led rural enterprises and promoting locally produced goods from Tripura. Through products such as Longtharai Valley Green Tea, SHG members are being provided opportunities to convert local resources and traditional rural capabilities into marketable products.

With its identity rooted in the hills of Dhalai, Dhalai Naturals’ Longtharai Valley Green Tea represents an effort to connect rural producers with consumers while supporting sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in the state.
