Agartala, Feb 27: In a shocking incident, a Higher Secondary board examination candidate died after reportedly hanging herself in a house at Agartala Dhaleswar on Thursday morning.
The incident took place after her friend opened the door of the house and found the girl – Debasmita Sen Chowdhury in a hanging position.
Alarmed by the incident, the deceased maternal uncle rushed to the house and found her dead. Her uncle informed that Debasmita started living with her grandparents at Dhaleswar after the demise of her father last year.
On the other hand, the mother of the deceased girl rushed to Dhaleswar from Teliamura and informed that her daughter, who appeared for the ongoing HS board examination on February 25 last, was having a relationship with a boy named Rahul. She said, “Yesterday I talked to my daughter over the phone, where she asked to talk to the boy, but I refused.”
“Rahul is responsible for the death of my daughter,” she told reporters. Police said that the girl allegedly took her own life after being scolded by her mother over her studies. A police officer from East Agartala Women’s Police Station mentioned that Debasmita acted out of distress.
Police of East Agartala Women Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy. Police is presently investigating the incident.
