14 states including NE get Rs 7,183 cr Revenue Deficit Grant

The Centre on Wednesday released Rs 7,183 crore to 14 states, including those in northeast region, for the current fiscal. This is the fifth instalment of revenue deficit grant released by the finance ministry, an official statement said.
Besides the states in the NE region including Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim, the Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant has been recommended by the 15th Finance Commission during 2022-23 to West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.
The 15th Finance Commission recommended a total PDRD grant of Rs 86,201 crore to 14 states for the financial year 2022-23. The grant is released in 12 equated monthly instalments.
With the release of the fifth instalment for August 2022, the total amount of PDRD grants released to these states in 2022-23 stands at Rs 35,917.08 crore.
