18 rural youth trained under DDU-GKY in Tripura given placement

Agartala, June 3: In a boost to rural employment and the renewable energy sector, 18 candidates from BPL families have secured jobs after completing skill training under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0 in Tripura.

The candidates underwent training in the trade of Solar Photovoltaic Technician at New Directions Educational Society and have been successfully placed at Mahamaya Traders, Agartala. The selected candidates will receive an annual package of Rs. 1.44 lakh along with performance-based incentives.

The achievement highlights the growing impact of skill development initiatives in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural youth while supporting the state's transition towards clean and renewable energy.

According to the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), the placement of the trained solar technicians comes at a crucial time as demand for solar energy installations continues to rise under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

The programme aims to expand rooftop solar adoption across the country, generating new employment opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

By equipping rural youth with industry-relevant technical skills, the initiative is helping bridge the gap between training and employment while contributing to Tripura’s green energy goals.

TRLM officials said the successful placement of the candidates reflects the effectiveness of DDU-GKY 2.0 in enhancing employability among rural youth and fostering economic empowerment through skill-based training.

The TRLM congratulated all 18 candidates on their achievement and expressed confidence that their success would inspire more rural youth to pursue skill development programmes and build sustainable careers in emerging sectors.
