20 College students expelled in Tripura for cheating in exam

Agartala, Aug 06: The authority of Swami Vivekananda College at Mohanpur sub-division in Tripura on Saturday expelled twenty first-year girl students from examinations for cheating and carrying mobile phones in the examination hall.
The students had appeared in Political Science examination of the second semester. During the examinations, mobile phones were found with 18 students and the remaining two students had carried micro xerox.
Speaking to the media, Principal of the College- Anita Majumder confirmed the matter and said the twenty students were expelled following the University guidelines.
She informed the media that there was a restriction on carrying mobile phones in the examinations halls. The mobile phones were found inside the uniform of the students, she said.
Meanwhile, a section of students said that some of the mobile phones were stolen when they kept them outside. In this context, the Principal said, the students were asked to submit their mobile phones to the teachers on duty.
“During hall visit, I alerted the students. But, they didn’t submit their mobile phones. When the matter came to notice, they have been expelled as per the University guidelines,” the Principal said.
