Boxonagar, Feb 28: Three suspected Bangladeshi nationals along with two other persons were detained along Indo-Bangla international border at Kalamchaura of Boxonagar on Monday.
Based on secret inputs, the BSF jawans of Kalamchaura and Galachipa BOPs detained the five suspected persons including three females from Chatiantilla market.
During preliminary interrogation, two among the five detainees informed the BSF that they are Bangladeshi nationals and the remaining two are Indians—residents of Kamalnagar under Sonamura police station. They were then handed over to local police.
In police interrogation, the three females disclosed their identities as Sathi Akhtar (20), Ruma Akhtar (23) and Rima Akhtar (21) from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The trio informed the police that they had entered the Indian territory through Tripura border with the help of an agent two months ago and worked in a shopping mall in Bangalore. After working for around two months, they reached Tripura to go back to Bangladesh through an agent.
Police found some currencies of Bangladesh and India along with nine mobile phones from the five persons.
According to sources, the human trafficking is on the rise through the Adampur border despite active surveillance of BSF and a local agent is involved behind this. Besides, smuggling of various contraband items is also going on rampant.
