3 Tripura youths arrested for duping Kerala woman of Rs 22.75 lakh

Khowai, Mar 19: Police arrested three youths in connection with a cybercrime from Teliamura on Saturday.
According to sources, one of the three accused, pretending to be a doctor in a Jordan-based Hospital allegedly duped a Kerala-based woman of Rs 22.75 lakh.
The three accused were identified as Kumar Jamatia, Saroj Debbarma, and Sanjit Debbarma of Teliamura.
It is learnt that two months ago, the victim entered into a love relationship with the fake doctor following a social media conversation.
When the woman proposed to him for marriage, the fake doctor told her about his poor financial condition and demanded Rs 22.75 lakh for the official expenses of the marriage and taking the woman to Jordan.
Accordingly, the victim transferred the fund into the accounts of the three accused persons.
Later, he cut off all sources of contact with him after getting the amount through the bank accounts of the three accused.
Realizing the fraud, the victim filed a case with the local cyber crime branch in Kerala in this connection.
After the initial investigation, Kerala Police’s Cyber Crime Branch with assistance from Teliamura police nabbed the youths from Teliamura and produced them before a local court in Khowai. The court granted a seven-day transit remand of the accused youths.
