30 women farmers in Tripura gain scientific training under HRIDAY Project

A new initiative aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods has brought together 30 women vegetable farmers from SK Para, Chichingcherra, and North Mainama Village Committees for a day-long training programme on modern cultivation practices. 

The event was organised by Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM) with support from LIC Housing Finance Ltd. (LIC HFL) under the Holistic Rural Initiative for Development Action and Yield (HRIDAY) Project.

Held at the Office of the Superintendent of Horticulture & Soil Conservation in Manu, the programme featured technical sessions led by Ar. Ranabir Tripura, Superintendent of Horticulture & Soil Conservation. 

He guided participants through scientific methods of growing summer and winter vegetables, the use of high-yielding varieties, soil and nutrient management, and integrated approaches to pest and disease control.

An interactive segment allowed farmers to raise field-level challenges, with practical solutions discussed to improve productivity and reduce risks. 

Organisers highlighted that the training was designed not only to enhance technical knowledge but also to empower women farmers with skills that can boost household income and promote sustainable agriculture.

Officials expressed confidence that such grassroots interventions will help rural women adopt scientific cultivation methods, improve yields, and contribute to food security while strengthening the local economy.
