30,000 Yaba tablets, 150 gm heroin seized in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 04: As part of the continuous efforts towards achieving the goal of Neshamukt Tripura, Tripura Police seized 150 gram heroin and 30,000 Yaba tablets from a vehicle on Friday.
The Ambassa police led by SDPO Suman Majumder raided the Agartala-bound vehicle near Betbagan Naka point. During search, the policemen found 150 gram heroin worth Rs 15 lakh and 30,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 15 lakh contained in 13 pouches.
The driver of the vehicle- Saharul Islam (24) of Karimganj in Assam was arrested and a specific case under NDPS Act was registered against him, police said.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in a tweet hailed the police’s achievement and said his government is working with the goal to transform Tripura into a drugs-free state.
Meanwhile, in a separate raid on Thursday night, Dhalai District Police recovered 47.39 gram brown sugar contained in 100 plastic containers from a Scooty at Mainama area near the Mosque.
Acting on a tip-off, the police led by SDPO Longtharai Valley Sonacharan Jamatia detained the Scooty rider- Arup Debbarma along with the drugs.
