Sonamura, March 11: In yet another successful drive against narcotic drug, the police of Jatrapur police station on Monday evening seized at least 32 kilograms of dry cannabis from a plastic drum, kept hidden under the earth.
The incident took place at the residence of one Harun Miah at Khadyakhola area under Jatrapur police station, where the police conducted a thorough search and managed to seize the drug items, which were kept hidden in a plastic drum under the earth.
Acting on a tip-off, Jatrapur police station staff unearthed 32 kilograms of dry cannabis buried underground in plastic drums at a residence in Khadya Khola village. The operation took place yesterday evening at the house of Haroon Mia.
Led by Officer-in-Charge Subrata Debnath, the operation included Sub-Inspector Shubhankar Saha, police personnel and TSR jawans. The estimated market value of the seized cannabis is approximately Rs 1 lakh.
Although Haroon Mia remains absconding, a case under the NDPS Act has been filed against him, and efforts are underway to arrest him, authorities confirmed.
