Agartala, Sep 16: A total of 37323 ST students of the state of Tripura were paid with their post-matric scholarship with the involvement of Rs. 74.12 crore so far, said the joint director of the tribal welfare department Saswata Sen on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference here in the conference hall of the secretariat, the joint director said that the submitted application of altogether 37832 students has been verified and approved at State Level under the scheme of ST Post-Matric, following which payment for a total of 37323 ST students were released so far under the financial year of 2022-23.

He said that payment initiation for 509 students were kept on hold due to some technical problems with bank accounts. Payment failure cases and the students filling applications with wrong details will be given a provision to update after careful scrutiny and later the list of the left out students will also be notified shortly in the Departmental website and social media pages, he told reporters.

He however informed that most of the time troubles are being faced by the department in regard to the payment initiation for the ST post-matric scholarship, because a major section of students is found to be pursuing their higher studies abroad or outside the state.
