Final preparations are underway for the crucial by-election in the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly constituency, scheduled to be held on Thursday, April 9.Â
Â
From early Wednesday morning, election officials were seen gearing up for the polls, with teams departing from PM Shri Government Girls’ School carrying Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), VVPATs, and other essential materials to their designated polling stations.
Â
A total of 55 polling stations have been set up across the constituency, including 11 model polling stations. In a noteworthy initiative, all these model polling stations will be managed entirely by women staff, marking a significant step towards ensuring active participation of women in the electoral process.
Â
The Election Commission has emphasized smooth conduct of polling, with arrangements in place to ensure transparency, security, and voter convenience. The deployment of women-led polling stations is being seen as a milestone in strengthening inclusivity and representation in democratic practices.
Â
As Dharmanagar braces for polling day, the atmosphere is charged with anticipation, with political parties and voters alike preparing for a decisive contest in this by-election.
