57,582 soakpits, North Tripura admin sets record

The North Tripura District Administration has set a record with the maximum number of soakpits by an organization under the Uttar Jal Sanchay Yatra.

On November 3 and 4, the North Tripura District Administration constructed 57,582 soakpits and entered the India Book of Records.

The soakpits have been constructed across the Gram Panchayats, Village Committees, and Urban Local Bodies. They created the maximum number of soakpits constructed by an organization.

An official said, this outstanding achievement was accomplished within just two days, under the Uttar Jal Sanchay Yatra, reflecting everyone’s collective commitment to water conservation and sustainable development.

The initiative has been taken by North Tripura District Magistrate Chandni Chandran as a large-scale rural/ urban sanitation and water conservation drive aimed at promoting groundwater recharge, greywater management and sustainable sanitation.
