Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday visited the Child Care Unit at Ujan Abhoynagar as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ and interacted with the children and students residing at the facility.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Special Secretary of the department Kuntal Das and Director L. Ranchal, among others, accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
Addressing the event, Dr. Saha said the state government’s objective is to ensure the socio-economic empowerment and self-reliance of the children and students residing at the Child Care Unit.
He urged officials of the concerned department to encourage the students to participate actively in extracurricular activities such as music and yoga alongside their studies.
The Chief Minister also asked the residents not to feel that they were alone, assuring them that the state government would always stand by them.
“Human beings are there for one another. If this thought remains in society, it will become more beautiful and a better place for everyone to live,” Dr. Saha said.
He also urged those responsible for managing the unit to treat the children and students as their own and pay close attention to their education, well-being and overall development.
Referring to the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Dr. Saha said the statewide initiative began on Thursday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years in public service, including his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. As part of the campaign, Seva Diwas is being observed across the state.
The Chief Minister highlighted the achievements of students from the Child Care Unit, stating that several of them have successfully completed courses such as GNM, ANM and nursing, as well as undergraduate programmes, and are now employed in various institutions across the state and the country.
During the programme, the students presented a cultural programme and performed yoga. Towards the end of the event, the Chief Minister distributed gifts among the children and students and wished them a bright and successful future.
