AC to be installed in entire medical block of GBP Hospital, Central Lab to be relocated

Under the direction of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, an initiative has been taken to install central AC in the entire medicine block of GBP Hospital while hospital authority has decided to relocate the Central Laboratory to the old labour room in the hospital complex for convenience of the patient parties.

Replying to a media query regarding patients' treatment on the floor in some cases and shortage of electric fans in the medicine unit, Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Bidhan Goswami said, PWD has been assigned to install central AC.

"Since work is underway in some places where we are unable to accomodate patients due to safety reasons," he said.

The work is progressing slowly. We have reviewed the matter with PWD recently and they assured that the on-going work will be completed within three months. Once the work gets it final shape, the problems will be solved to a large extent, he said.

Speaking to reporters, Principal of AGMC Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Majumder said, for blood tests, sometimes the people accompanying the patients face trouble in reaching the Central Laboratory at its current location.

Considering the public convenience, a decision has been taken to shift the entire central laboratory to old labour room, he said.

According to Dr Majumder, the PWD has delayed the process owing to some financial issues. Now, the sanction has been received and it is expected that the shifting of the facility to new location will be completed by this month.
