Agartala gears up for 'Mayer Gomon' puja carnival

After grand celebration of Durga Puja, Agartala now geared up to host ‘Mayer Gomon 2025’, the puja carnival, on Saturday.

This will be the fourth edition of the mega event, scheduled to be held in front of Maharanai Tulsibati School, 5 pm onwards. Chief Minster Dr. Manik Saha and other cabinet members and dignitaries will be present.

According to Director of Information and Cultural Affairs department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, who inspected the final preparation at the event site on Friday, said all necessary arrangements have been put in place for smooth conduct of the carnival.

He said, as per preliminary information, around 40 clubs of Agartala city are scheduled to join the event. He said, the number may rise in the last moment.

According to Bhattacharjee, the event was held in front of Agartala City Centre for the first two years. The third edition was organized in front of the MTB Girls School. Now, all preparations are in place for the fourth edition of the carnival.

Speaking to the media, Bhattacharjee said, the clubs have been divided in nine zones. All the puja organizers will participate in the carnival procession with various presentations and then they will proceed towards Dashamighat via Kaman Chowmuhani, Post Office Chowmuhani, Paradise Chowmuhani and Battala.

Meanwhile, the carnival saw unbelievable crowd in the previous years. It is expected that the event will register massive success this year too.

In the meantime, the Traffic unit announced restrictions in some roads in connection with Mayer Gomon-2025:

No Vehicle Zone: On 04-10-2025 from 2 P.M the road from Lions Gate (Ujjayanta Palace) to Dashamighat via Jacksion Gate, Kaman Chowmuhani, Surjya Chowmuhani, Post Office Chowmuhani, Paradise Chowmuhani and Battala shall be used only for the purpose of immersion of idols till the entire procession is completed.

No-Entry will be imposed the following locations: Nagrejala, Battala, Dashamighat, Joypur, Auguntak Club, Joynagar Office Lane, Fire Service Chowmuhani, IGM Chowmuhani, Birendra Club Junction, Gandhighat, Back Side of IGM Hospital, RMS Chowmuhani, Madyapara Road, Orient Chowmuhani, Jacksion Gate, Gol Bazar, Lalmaitya Crossing, Netaji Chowmuhani, Old Motor Stand, Ganaraj Chowmuhani, Women's College, Town Hall, RS Bhavan Crossing, BK Chowmuhani.

Emergency Route for Patients/ Air passengers/Railway passengers: 

From TMC Hapania to IGM/GBP Hospital/ILS: Hapania - A.D Nagar- Fly Over-IGM-TRTC-BK Chowmuhani- Colonel Chowmuhani-Haradhan Sangha- North Gate-Radhanagar-Murtiprangan-GBP Hospital/ILS.

Hapania- A.D Nagar-Fly Over- Fire Service Chowmuhani- Ker Chowmuhani- Sankar Chowmuhani-Haradhan Sangha- North Gate-Radhanagar-Murtiprangan-GBP Hospital/ILS.

From GBP Hospital / ILS Hospital towards IGM / Hapania TMC: ILS/GB- Murtiprangan- Radhanagar- North Gate- Haradhan Sangha- Coloner Chowmuhani-SankarChowmuhani- Ker Chowmuhani- Flyover - A.D Nagar. 

N.B. Airport/Railway passengers have been requested to keep valid Air Tickets or boarding pass with them and use sticker "Airport and Railway Passenger" on the vehicle. They may use any roads for going to Airport/Station and from Airport/Station to their destination.

The parking zone for of VIP vehicles will be at Ujjayanta Palace compound.

Parking zones for general public vehicles are- IGM Chowmuhani- RMS Chowmuhani-Orient Chowmuhani-Jacksion Gate box culvert, Battala TRTC Complex, under Flyover pillar 38 to 42, Gandhighat to Ramkrishna Mission, Gangail Road and from back side of East Agartala Police Station up to Mahanamangan.
