
Agartala is all set to offer a rousing welcome to Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan, who will arrive here on a two-day visit on Saturday.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other high-profile delegates will receive the Vice President at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala at 2:10 pm on Saturday. He will join the state dinner at Lok Bhavan in the same evening.Â
While elaborate security arrangements have been put in place, the West Tripura District Magistrate has issued some traffic advisories, including alternative routes for emergency passengers, for two days.
On his visit to Tripura, the Vice President will attend the 14th Convocation of Tripura University in on March 8. Later in the day, he will visit the Self-Help Group (SHG) stalls at the International Trade and Fair Centre, Hapania, where he will interact with women members and Lakhpati Didis.
As per the traffic advisory, there will be restrictions on the movement of all types of vehicles like buses, trippers, brick carriers, cement carriers, rod carriers, and bamboo carriers, (except emergency vehicles), on the stretch from MBB Airport to Uttam Bhakta Chowmuhani (Sekerkote) during the visit.
The administration has requested the commuters to use the alternative routes: Narayanpur- Narsingarh- Ramnagar- Gandhigram Bazar- Salbagan- Rubber Board- Chanmari.
GB- Indranagar- Dhaleswar- Math Chowmuhani- Jogendranagar- Bypass.
A.D. Nagar- Battala- Fire Service- Ker Chowmuhani- Sankar Chowmuhani- Barjala- Mailakhola via Bharat Ratna Club to MBB Airport.
GB-ILS-SDO Chowmuhani- Nandannagar- Banikya Chowmuhani- Kheyerpur- Khyerpur Bypass- Amtali.
The other alternative route is Sekerkote Tea Garden- Kanchanmala- Srinagar- Bypass (Amtali-Khyerpur).
Airport passengers have been advised to plan their journey via alternative routes and reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to their flight to avoid traffic congestion and carry valid air tickets or boarding passes with them.
