agartala glows in ganesh chaturthi fervour as festive season begins

The festive spirit has begun to sweep across Agartala with the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, bringing devotion, lights, music, and a sense of excitement to the city.

From brightly decorated puja pandals to the sound of devotional music and the gathering of families and youngsters, the capital has taken on a distinctly festive look as people welcomed Lord Ganesha amid prayers and celebrations.

The celebration also marked the beginning of a festive season that will reach its grandest crescendo next month with Durga Puja, the biggest festival for Bengalis. With the countdown to Durga Puja already underway, Ganesh Chaturthi has added an early burst of festivity to the city's cultural calendar.

Among the prominent celebrations in Agartala are those organised by Ganapati Samajik Sanstha, Ekdanta Club and Grassroot Samajik Sanstha at Jackson Gate. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the three puja celebrations on Sunday evening, joining devotees and organisers in the festivities.

The inauguration ceremonies drew crowds of devotees and local residents, creating a vibrant atmosphere across the city with beautifully illuminated puja venues. People turned out in large numbers to join the celebration.

For many, the celebrations are not merely religious occasions but also an opportunity for community participation and togetherness. Youngsters have been particularly enthusiastic, contributing to decorations, cultural programmes and the arrangements at the puja venues.

At Ekdanta Club, the celebrations will feature an added musical attraction. Popular singer Debolina Nandy will perform on September 16, promising an evening of music and entertainment for the city's festive crowd.

As Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations continue, Agartala is already beginning to embrace the mood of the festive months ahead. The lights, decorations, music and crowds at the puja venues offer a glimpse of what lies ahead—with Durga Puja just around the corner, the city is slowly stepping into its biggest season of celebration.
