
Agartala is all set to offer a rousing welcome to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is scheduled to arrive here on Thursday.
The administration geared up necessary preparations including security arrangements. Trial of the Union Home Minister’s motorcade was conducted from Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport to Pushpabanta Palace (old Raj Bhavan) where the foundation stone laying and Bhumi Pujan for a heritage hotel project will take place.
He will arrive in the city from Shillong after attending the 73rd plenary session of North Eastern Council (NEC) at Shillong. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is also expected to travel with the Union Home Minister from Shillong after the NEC meeting.
The Union Home Minister will attend several programmes on Friday, the second day of his visit to the state. Review of the border security and infrastructure will be the key focus.
He is scheduled to visit a BSF facility along the Indo-Bangla international boundary at Lankamura under the West Tripura district. He is also scheduled to hold a high-level review meeting with the Border Security Force officials.
Meanwhile, to ensure smooth traffic during the high-profile visit, the Traffic Police unit issued an advisory, restricting movement of vehicles on certain roads for two days.
There will be restrictions on the movement of all types of vehicles except emergency vehicles, on MBB Airport to Frontier BSF HQ Salbagan, Lichu Bagan to Buddha Mandir and Bharat Ratna Club crossing to Lankamura BOP, BSF camp roads during the movement of Union Home Minister.
The traffic Police requested the commuters to use the alternative routes: 1) Narayanpur- Narsingarh- Ramnagar - Gandhigram Bazar - Salbagan - Rubber Board – Chanmari, 2) GB-Indranagar - Dhaleswar - Math Chowmuhani - Jogendranagar - Bypass, 3) A.D. Nagar - Battala - Fire Service - IGM Chowmuhani- RMS Chowmuhani-Orient Chowmuhani- Rabindra Bhawan crossing- Lion's gate-Bodhjung Chowmuhani - Sachin Setu- Abhoynagar- G.B Bazar and 4) A.D. Nagar - Battala - Fire Service - Ker Chowmuhani - Sankar Chowmuhani -Barjala - MailaKhola via Bharat Ratna Club to MBB Airport.
