AIECA observes Black Day to protest against Electricity Amendment Bill

Agartala Aug 08: Opposing the Electricity Amendment Bill 2021 and moves to privatize the energy sector, a demonstration was staged at Battala in Capital city Agartala on behalf of All India Electricity Consumer Association, Tripura state.
Raising slogans against the BJP government in the Centre the members of AIECA burnt copies of electricity bill and also demanded immediate repeal of the bill.
Talking to the reporters during the protest, Convenor, AIECA Tripura Unit, Sanjoy Choudhury said, “While the people are engaged in celebrating the 75th year of India’s Independence, the Centre is trying to push through the anti-people Bill”.
Choudhury termed the attempt of the BJP Govt as biggest conspiracy in independent India to handover the power utilities developed by sparing lakhs and crores of rupees of public money over the years at throwaway prices to private and corporate companies.
AIECA threatened to go for larger movement in near days if the Electricity Amendment Bill 2021 is not repealed immediately.
