In a bid to reinforce the city’s cleanliness drive, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder has urged sanitation workers to continue their dedicated efforts in keeping the capital clean and healthy.
Speaking at a special programme organised by the Corporation premises, the Mayor highlighted the indispensable role of sanitation workers in maintaining hygiene and appealed for their cooperation in building a cleaner city.
The event, titled ‘Safai Mitra Suraksha Shibir’ and the ‘Flagging Off of Task Force Vehicles’, was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp‑lighting by Mayor Majumder, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, Additional Commissioner Mihir Kanti Ghosh, and other senior officials.
Addressing the gathering, the Mayor expressed gratitude to the sanitation workers who, despite adverse conditions, continue to perform their duties daily. “The cleanliness of Agartala is possible only because of the dedication and hard work of our sanitation workers. Their contribution is invaluable,” Majumder said. He emphasised that the workers’ commitment ensures the city remains livable and healthy.
At the same time, Majumder called upon citizens to share responsibility by disposing of waste at designated points and following the Corporation’s cleanliness guidelines. He stressed that public participation is as vital as administrative measures in achieving the goal of a clean city.
The programme also carried a broader message of worker safety and recognition. Officials noted that the initiative aims not only to strengthen the city’s sanitation system but also to ensure the protection and dignity of those who carry out this essential work.
Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta and other dignitaries echoed the Mayor’s sentiments, underlining that the combined efforts of sanitation workers, officials, and citizens will be key to transforming Agartala into a model of cleanliness and public health.
