The Agartala Municipal Corporation has launched a special initiative to revive and beautify the city’s historic Prabhu Bari pond, aiming to restore its cultural charm and ecological value.
Â
On Tuesday, Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder visited the site to inspect the progress of renovation work. Expressing sharp dissatisfaction at the slow pace, he directed officials and engineers present to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.
Â
During the inspection, Majumder was accompanied by Ward No. 20 Corporator Ratna Dutta, senior municipal officials, engineers, and local dignitaries.Â
Â
The Mayor stressed that preserving and beautifying Agartala’s traditional ponds is one of the corporation’s top priorities, noting that these water bodies are integral to the city’s heritage and community life.
Â
Officials explained that the restoration plan includes cleaning, structural repair, and aesthetic improvements to ensure the pond remains both functional and visually appealing.Â
Â
Residents welcomed the initiative, saying it reflects the corporation’s commitment to safeguarding Agartala’s historic landmarks while enhancing the urban environment.
