Agartala, Feb 11: Union Defence Minister Amit Shah arrived in Tripura on Saturday night to hold election rallies at various places in the state on Sunday.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, MP Rajya Sabha Biplab Kumar Deb and others welcomed the Union Home Minister at Maharaja Bir Bikram airport, Agartala. 

Meanwhile, he campaigned for the party in the state earlier on February 6 last.

According to BJP sources, Shah will begin his tour programme by offering prayers at Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur at 11 am. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other BJP leaders will accompany him.

He will then address two poll rallies at Chandipur in Unakoti district at 12 pm and Bishramganj in Sepahijala district at 2 pm. Next, the Union Defence Minister will hold a road show from Jogendranagar Railway Station to Agartala City Centre.

A host of central leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi already joined the party’s election campaigning in Tripura. The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the state again on Monday.
