Agartala May 31: Raising three-point charter of demands, Amra Bangali, Tripura State Committee on Wednesday staged protest in the capital city.
Speaking in this context, Gouranga Rudra Pal, secretary Amra Bangali said, “Amra Bangali party has been struggling hard for the overall welfare of the Bengali community people across the state in order to ensure that they are not deprived of their rights”.
Condemning the eviction drive at Raiyabari in Udaipur, Pal said, “In the name of justice, out of the disturbance created by the indigenous inhabitants of the area, the state government bulldozed the residents of numerous families in Udaipur’s Raiyabari a few days back with the help of the forest department”.
Briefing the demands, he said, “All the families evicted from Raiyabari along with all the Bengali families who are victims of 1980 June riots must be given rehabilitation, security and adequate compensation by the government. Besides, all the criminals responsible for the fate of the evicted families must be punished according to law”.
Alleging that the government under Congress, Cpi-m and now BJP have been playing “Upajati Dushashan Niti”, the Amra Bangali leaders further claimed that no torture against the Bengali’s across the state will be tolerated.
“Where the Bengalis of the state are deprived of their rights, the state and central government has spent at least Rs 600 crores for permanent rehabilitation of the Mizo Reangs”, they alleged.
