Agartala Aug 06: Putting forward four charter point demands, the Tripura Pradesh Anganwadi workers and helpers organized a rally in capital city, Agartala on Saturday.
The rally started from Astabal ground in North Gate and marched towards the Circuit House area of capital city.
Talking to the reporters from the rally, the Anganwadi workers said, “Since the onset of BJP governance in Tripura, Anganwadi workers and helpers did not get anything from the government. The day’s rally has been organized to remind the govt of its responsibilities towards us”.
The workers added that the Anganwadi workers and helpers have been suffering from extreme deprivation and neglect for a long time. Despite of approaching the CDPO’s and other authorities including the Minister of Social Welfare and Social Education nothing has been done with their longstanding demands.
The four charter point demands include increase in wages (Rs 18,000 to Anganwadi workers and Rs 12,000 to helpers), settling the pension and gratuity money after retirement, increasing the age limit of service to 65 years.
They alleged that the government is not complying with the orders of the Supreme Court. And the present government has not increased even a single rupee of salary allowance since its establishment. Therefore, the workers and helpers of various Anganwadi centers across the state have been placing deputation to the Chief Minister through CDPO at various places. At the same time, pressure is being exerted for speedy implementation of demands through hall meetings.
The Anganwadi workers and helpers demanded the state government to take a decision and accept their demands before Durga Puja.
