New Delhi, Mar 5: Assam Chief Minister and NEDA chairman Himanta Biswa Sarma, who visited Tripura on Saturday and held meetings with party leaders, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his official residence here on Sunday to discuss government formation in Tripura and Nagaland.
Sources said although Manik Saha's name has been reportedly endorsed by the party high command for the post of Tripura CM, a section of MLAs pushed the name of Union Minister Pratima Bhaumik.
A senior BJP leader said a majority of the MLAs on Sunday endorsed Saha but the official announcement would be made by the party high command before the swearing-in ceremony on March 8.
Sources said Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also attended the meeting.
They said cabinet structure and government formation were high on the agenda of discussions.
The BJP got majority in Tripura, and retained power in Nagaland with alliance partner National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
