In a major success against narcotics trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Customs Department, Agartala, recovered a large consignment of banned cough syrup during a joint operation in Tripura.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security forces raided the Taranagar area, about 20 km northeast of Agartala, on Sunday. During the operation, personnel seized 140 cases of codeine-based cough syrup, suspected to be intended for illegal distribution. The estimated market value of the consignment is around Rs 40 lakh.
Officials confirmed that the seized items have been handed over to the Customs Department for further legal proceedings.
The Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to intensifying anti-narcotics operations, stressing that such coordinated actions are part of their broader mission to ensure a drug-free environment in Tripura and the Northeast.
