Attack on police in the name of devotional traditions

Dharmanagar Aug 01: People of Dharmanagar East Bazaar area lost their sleep because of bangarang till 3am in Monday in the name of Harinam Sankirtan.
Even though the people of the area repeatedly complained, the kirtan authorities were reluctant to reduce the volume of the microphone in any way.
On the other hand, seeing the condition of the patients, the people of the area filed their complaints in groups at Dharmanagar police station.
A team of two constables was sent from Dharmanagar police station under an assistant sub-inspector. But the Kirtan authorities refused to obey the police.
Later, when a constable namely Amal Das went to take pictures of the situation, some youths attacked him, broke his mobile phone, snatched away his money and beat up all the policemen.
As soon as the news reached the police station, SDPO and District Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar along with a team reached the area and dispersed the crowd with sticks and arrested 13 persons who had attacked the police on duty.
Police informed that the court will look into the whole matter.
Constable Amal Das is undergoing treatment for injuries at North District Hospital in Dharmanagar.
Meanwhile a case has been registered bearing number 113/22, under sections 351/333/384/204/427/506/34 of IPC.
