The incident took place near Mereng Bazar in the Teliamura subdivision, triggering panic in the area.Â
A large contingent of police rushed to the spot soon after the firing was reported. Authorities suspect that the attack was an attempt to disrupt the Chief Minister’s public meeting.
In addition, the attackers reportedly snatched a mobile phone from one of the BJP supporter present at the scene.
The Chief Minister’s rally was held at the ground of Parakalak Higher Secondary School at Duski.
