Agartala, Feb 24: The leader of opposition and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Friday alleged that attempts are being made since long to break and harm the unity between the tribals and non-tribals in Tripura.
Sarkar was addressing a party gathering at Mohanpur organized to remember the former party MLA and senior leader Radharaman Debnath.
Sarkar called upon the party workers to feel the necessity of following the ideology of late Radharaman Debnath especially in the present situation, where the politics of division are being hatched.
“We need to come out from this suffocated atmosphere created during the last five years in Tripura and we need to resume our work for the people like that of Radharaman Debnath who was a man of importance for his attachment with the people irrespective of political colours,” he said.
He stated, “It was the CPI(M) party which grew broad in this small state like Tripura amid the growing unity between the tribals and non-tribals. Even here attempts are being made to break that unity.”’
“The country is reeling under an acute crisis, where the people of all walks of life, especially the poor are being deprived at large from their democratic rights,” Sarkar said, adding that there is a need to learn and follow the ideology of personalities like late Radharaman Debnath.
