Bangali Chhatra Yuva Samaj, the students’ wing of Amra Bangali, staged a protest in the Tripura capital on Saturday raising several demands including employment and called for a job-oriented education system.
They strongly protested the attempt to suppress Bengali language, culture and customs. The previous Left Front government, they said, made Bengali an additional subject at the school level.
Tapomoy Biswas, a leader of the Bangali Chhatra Yuva Samaj, said a conspiracy is being hatched against Bangla and the Bengalis. He demanded that the central government has to withdraw the process to imposition of Hindi through the New Education Policy.
The protestors, who also held a rally in the city, demanded use of Bengali language in all government and private signboards since Bengali is the official language in Tripura.
They also criticized the existing education system that doesn’t guarantee employment and called for transformation of education system to a job-oriented system. In this regard, they also demanded a block level planning.
