Bangladesh High Commissioner's Tripura visit aims to deepen regional ties

Expected to fortify Indo-Bangla relations and catalyze joint efforts in cross- border connectivity and infrastructure development, M Riaz Hamidullah, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India is scheduled to visit Tripura on Friday.

 

The four-day visit from August 1 to 4, 2025 visit marks a significant diplomatic milestone and underscores Tripura’s growing role as a gateway to Bangladesh and Southeast Asia.

 

According to a memorandum issued by the General Administration (Political) Department, Hamidullah’s visit begins with his arrival at MBB Airport, Agartala, followed by a floral tribute at Albert Ekka Park. The schedule also includes key meetings with the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Governor of Tripura, Indrasena Reddy Nallu reflecting the diplomatic importance of this engagement.

 

The High Commissioner will also tour several strategic locations, including: Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, Agartala, Agartala Integrated Check Post (ICP), Akhaura Land Port, Maitri Setu, Sabroom, Ashuganj and Nischintapur Railway Station, part of the Akhaura-Agartala Rail Link.

 

Notably, the itinerary features cross-border transit through Akhaura Land Port and engagement with regional administrative offices such as the DC Office Brahmanbaria. A dinner hosted by the Chief Minister is also on the agenda, symbolizing the strong camaraderie between the neighboring nations.

 

The Government of Tripura has urged all departments to ensure seamless coordination and preparedness for the visit.
