Belonia’s Baivab Roy secures AIR 168 in NEET UG

Baivab Roy, a resident of Rajib Corner in Belonia of South Tripura district, has secured the top rank in Tripura and an All India Rank (AIR) of 168 in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026.

Roy scored 686 out of 720 marks in the examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), securing the highest position among candidates from Tripura, sources said.

The achievement was welcomed by residents of Belonia, where family members, neighbours and teachers congratulated the student following the declaration of the results.

Baivab Roy is the son of Biswanath Roy, a radiographer. According to those close to the family, he pursued his studies with consistent effort despite coming from a modest background.

On Sunday evening, leaders of the Belonia Mandal felicitated Roy at his grandfather's residence near Vidyapith Park in Belonia. During the programme, he was presented with a traditional Hrisha, a bouquet and a portrait of Swami Vivekananda.

Speaking on the occasion, Belonia Mandal president Sayantan Datta said Roy's achievement would encourage other students to pursue their academic goals through hard work and perseverance.

"Baivab's success is a matter of pride for Belonia and Tripura. His achievement will inspire the younger generation to work towards their goals with dedication and self-confidence," Datta said.

Belonia Mandal vice-president Arup Bhowmik and other local leaders were also present at the felicitation programme.

According to the information provided, Roy's performance in the national-level medical entrance examination has placed him among the top-ranked candidates in the country.
