
A district-level celebration marking 150 years of Vande Mataram was held in Belonia on Friday, organized by the South Tripura District Administration.

The event began with a collective rendition of the national song by students and dignitaries in front of Sachin Dev Burman Auditorium, followed by lamp lighting and floral tributes to Bharat Mata.

Minister Sukla Charan Noatia, addressed the gathering, highlighting the historical origins of Vande Mataram, composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in the 1870s, and its enduring significance in India's freedom movement.

Following the minister’s remarks, attendees—including students, teachers, and officials—listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s virtual address on the legacy of Vande Mataram and its role in shaping national consciousness.

South Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Dipak Dutta, District Magistrate Mohammad Sajjad P, Belonia Municipal Council Education Committee Chairperson Anupam Chakraborty, and other district officials remained present at the program.

Concluding the celebration, artists from various organizations presented a vibrant cultural dance performance, adding a festive and patriotic touch to the occasion.
