Biplab felicitates Asmita Dey, Tripura's first Commonwealth Gold Medalist in Judo

Former Chief Minister and current Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb placed Tripura at the centre of national pride on Tuesday as he personally felicitated Asmita Dey at his Delhi residence. 

Asmita, the trailblazing judoka from Tripura, recently became the first Indian woman to win gold in judo at the Commonwealth Games, a feat that has electrified the sporting community across the country.

During the felicitation, Deb extended warm congratulations and best wishes for her future, describing her achievement as “a historic success that has made India proud, and Tripura prouder still.” 

He praised her journey of discipline, perseverance and determination, noting that her ability to overcome challenges and rise to the top will remain a source of inspiration for countless young Indians.

Deb expressed his prayers that, with the blessings of Mata Tripurasundari, Asmita will continue to shine on the global stage and bring further glory to the nation.
