Biplab meets injured BJP leaders, slams TMC for attack

Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday strongly condemned the alleged attack on BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh in North Bengal, accusing Trinamool Congress-backed miscreants of orchestrating the assault.

In a social media post, Deb said the two leaders came under a “planned attack” by TMC-backed goons while they were visiting flood-affected areas of North Bengal to extend help to victims.

He met both Murmu and Ghosh in Siliguri to enquire about their health and expressed concern over the prevailing situation in West Bengal.

Deb, who had recently been made the co-in-charge for West Bengal polls, alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government had turned the administrative machinery into a “party tool” as public confidence in her leadership continues to erode.

“Sensing the approaching end of her regime, Mamata Banerjee has converted governance into party rule, making terror, bloodshed and lawlessness the mainstay of her politics,” Deb wrote.

He further said that Bengal was witnessing “a new dark chapter every day under the TMC regime” and that democracy was being “strangled daily” through state-sponsored violence.

The BJP has launched protests across Tripura and parts of West Bengal condemning the attack and demanding strict action against the culprits.
