BJP accuses TIPRA Motha of vandalizing campaign decorations in Khumulwng

Tensions flared in Khumulwng after BJP alleged that its campaign decorations were vandalized on Sunday night, shortly after Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha addressed a public meeting at the ADC headquarters.

According to BJP leaders, miscreants damaged promotional materials in Khumulwng and nearby areas following the joining programme where 113 families, comprising nearly 482 voters — many of them former TIPRA Motha supporters — formally joined the BJP.

In protest, BJP workers staged a rally in Khumulwng and later submitted a deputation at Radha Pur Police Station, demanding the arrest of those responsible within 48 hours. The complaint directly accused coalition partner TIPRA Motha of involvement in the incident.

The deputation was handed over to SDPO Jirania Sudhir Kumar, with BJP Mandai Mandal president, Takarjala Mandal president, and several local leaders present.

Party functionaries described the vandalism as an attempt to disrupt BJP’s growing momentum in tribal areas, while calling for strict legal action against those behind the act.
