Agartala Feb 01: The 2023 Tripura Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to be held on February 16 to elect all 60 members of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
Established to power in a historic win by putting an end to the long rule of CPI-M in the year 2018, the 2023 assembly elections are extremely significant for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that has been preaching of drastic development in the state in these 5 years.
While the opposition political parties keeps on criticizing the BJP over ‘Jumla Promises’, ‘Unfulfilled promises enlisted in Vision Document’ and many more, the only word heard from the mouth of BJPs top brass to state BJP leaders and Karyakartas at all the levels is ‘Development’.
Hence, in order to prove the opposition wrong, it is important for the BJP to win the polls for yet another term in Tripura.
In a bid to reach out to the masses and apprise them of the ‘development’ under BJP-led governance, the candidates nominated from the party are carrying out extensive campaigning day and night.
Wednesday, chief minister Dr Manik Saha who is a candidate from 8-Town Bordowali constituency accompanied party’s general secretary Papiya Dutta who has been put against sitting Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman in 6-Agartala assembly seat in her door-to-door campaign.
Praising Papiya Dutta, the chief minister said, “She is a perfect example of ideal woman and devoted party karyakarta”.
“People are just waiting for February 16 and if there is something above 100%, I’m sure that Papiya will secure massive victory in 6-Agartala seat”, he said.
However, it is worthy to be mentioned here that Sudip Roy Barman won from the 6-assembly constituency seat for 5 times in a row.
The last time in the year 2018 when he contested for the seat with a BJP ticket and later left the party and fought the by-elections 2022 on a Congress ticket and again secured victory against BJP candidate Dr Ashok Sinha.
Incumbent Minister of State Cabinet Ramprasad Paul also conducted house-to-house campaign in Surjyamaninagar assembly area backed by party activists and supporters.
Kalyani Roy, BJP candidate for 28-Teliamura assembly constituency also took part in poll campaigning. Reaching out to the common voters in her area, she sought votes for herself while assuring them of all necessary welfare works.
4- Barjala assembly constituency BJP candidate Dr Dilip Das also met the voters in his area on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, local leaders and karyakartas of BJP reached out to the voters on behalf on BJP candidate Surajit Dutta in 7-Ramnagar assembly area.
The party leaders said, “Dutta being ill, we are conducting campaign on his behalf”.
All the BJP candidates exuded confidence of winning the elections with majority of votes.
