Violence threw normal life out of gear.
As per the pre-scheduled programme, CPM Khowai sub-division Committee organized a rally supporting five-point demands – the rally started from Khowai town and was heading towards Singichhera. Former Minister Pabitra Kar, CPM MLA Nirmal Biswas and other leaders led the rally in which around 300 party supporters took part.

Shops pulled down the shutters and panic-stricken locals locked the main gates. For some time, Khowai-Kamalpur road remained closed due to the violence.
As the supporters clashed with each other, SDPO Rajib Sutradhar reached the spot along with a large posse of CRPF and TSR. Police rescued 12 injured persons. Tension and panic spread over to the Khowai town area. Adequate police deployment was made to tackle the situation.
