Kailashahar, Feb 6: Bharatiya Janata Party had talks with TIPRA Motha who demanded a separate State – but we have turned down the demand, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma adding that BJP would do everything for the development and welfare of the Janajati people, however, the saffron party would not do anything that would destroy the State that the Kings of Tripura had built.
Himanta Biswa Sharma was speaking at an election rally in support of the BJP candidate in the 52-Chandipur Assembly Constituency at Chandipur on Monday. BJP State general secretary Tinku Roy is contesting from this constituency. Among others, the party’s organizational secretary Phanindranath Sharma was present in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the Assam Chief Minister clearly said BJP is committed to the holistic improvement of the Janajati people. He also shed light on initiatives taken by the BJP-led governments in the State and Centre for tribal welfare.
During the talks with TIPRA Motha demanded a division of the State – however, this is not possible as BJP cannot divide the State which was built by the kings of Tripura, especially, the grandfather of TIPRA Motha leader.
Himanta Biswa Sharma also flayed the seat-sharing understanding between Congress and CPM. He said, “CPIM and Congress have ceased to exist in the country – they will be wiped out from Tripura also as zero plus zero will produce a zero only”.
He said the ‘new Tripura’ is emerging fast under the BJP regime. Seeking public support for Tinku Roy, the Assam Chief Minister said, BJP lost the seat in 2018 by a narrow margin and this time, Tinku Roy would win comfortably, he asserted.
