Agartala, Jan 16: Secretary of CPM's Tripura unit Jitendra Choudhury on Monday slammed the ruling BJP and said that the party had snatched all democratic rights of the people during the last five years.
Addressing a party gathering at Hapania area, the Choudhury said, “At a time when the people witnessed large scale violence during the last five years, where the oppositions were targeted, this ruling BJP government snatched all the democratic rights of the people and weakened the constitution in Tripura.”
“Since after assuming power, the BJP targeted the opposition parties including the CPI(M) and bull-dozed the party offices across the state so as to paralyse the functioning of the oppositions in Tripura,” he alleged, claiming that the people who voted to form BJP-IPFT government and later attacked the oppositions under the direction of their leaders are now frustrated with this BJP government.
He continued slamming the BJP party and alleged, “During the last five years the BJP turned the entire polling process into a farce by snatching the voting rights of the general public across the state.
In context of unemployment, the CPI(M) leader said, “On one hand this BJP-IPFT government failed to provide 50000 jobs as was assured in their vision document before 2018 assembly election, and on the other hand, the unemployed youths of the state who were deprived at large during the last five years had to face police’ brutality, water cannon and tear gas.”
“Thye BJP which used the 10,323 sacked teachers to form the government in Tripura in 2018, failed to bring a solution to those 10323 teachers. The teachers were harassed at large on different occasions, whenever they tried to seek for an alternative job,” he alleged.
He however urged for a united resistance against the BJP party in Tripura and said, “The CPI(M) is in touch with other opposition and non-BJP parties including the regional parties with an objective to defeat this fascistic BJP government in the ensuing assembly election."
