Agartala Jan 23: While the entire state including capital city Agartala was busy in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary celebrations, BJP activists blocked Indra Nagar -GB road in protest against burning down of party office under 6-Agartala assembly constituency.
The agitating BJP Karyakartas raised stern allegations against the opposition Congress while holding it responsible behind the party office ransacking.
Sloganeering against 6-Agartala assembly constituency MLA Sudip Roy Barman, the protestors said, “We noticed some outsiders came to Congressman Shyamal Pal’s residence on Sunday evening and immediately got an idea of something fishy. Later, our thoughts were established as we found BJP party office in Booth No 38 in Indra Nagar area was burnt down in the late hours of night”.
State BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee hurried to the spot on receiving the report of road blockade.
Talking to the reporters he said, “The state election commission and police will be informed of the matter and we hope that they take the apt decision as model code of conduct is in force in the state centering the forthcoming polls”.
On being asked about allegations towards Congress worker Shyamal Pal and MLA Sudip Roy Barman by BJP karyakartas, Bhattacharjee said, “I’m not aware of what has happened in reality but is the local karyakartas are claiming such, there might be something”.
On the other hand, Congress claimed it to be a ‘drama’ whiule mentioning that ‘Congress has no link with such unlawful works’.
