Agartala, Feb 23: Anticipating the victory of Left front and the Congress party in this assembly election, the CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury, Thursday said that the BJP is worried of their defeat and hence they are creating an atmosphere of provocation across the state.
Chaudhury made this statement during his visit to the resumption of the party's sub-divisional office at Jirania under Majlishpur assembly constituency. He was accompanied by local party leaders and supporters.
Chaudhury continued lambasting the BJP party and said, “During the last five years of their rule the BJP party unleashed fascistic attacks on the oppositions and throttled the voice of democracy in Tripura. They began their dictatorial rule after the formation of their first government in March 2018.”
“Worried about their defeat now in this assembly election, the BJP is creating an atmosphere of provocation, but it is evident from the February 16 polling that people voted for peace as part of their fight for restoration of democracy,” he told reporters.
He said, “Our fight is not only against the BJP’s fascistic attack here in Tripura, but also against the BJP’s politics of hatred in the name of Hindi Rashtra across the country.”
The party office at Jirania subdivision was shut down for the last five years due to the ‘fascistic’ attack of the BJP party on oppositions, Chaudhury said, adding that since after the formation of government in March 2018 the BJP started bulldozing CPI(M) party offices across the state and accordingly the Jirania party office came under attack.
“Since 2018, many of our party offices were shut down forcefully by the BJP, while some others were illegally acquired. They brought total destruction to the functioning of the oppositions in this state,” he said.
