Agartala, Oct 22: A day after the mass gathering of the opposition CPI-M, the party general secretary Jitendra Choudhuri Saturday accused the ruling BJP party and alleged that the fascist party attempted to dismantle the CPI-M's rally held here at Agartala on Friday last.
Addressing a press conference here at the party headquarter, Choudhuri said, "Worried of the CPI-M's emergence ahead of the 2023 election, the BJP is trying to revive its policy of dismantling the activities of the opposition parties."
"There was an unannounced strike especially in the Southern part of the state, where people were restricted from coming out of their house. All means of communication were halted in various parts of the state, so that people are unable to come and attend our rally at Agartala," Choudhuri alleged.
He continued targeting the ruling BJP party to allege that in a very sudden attempt, half of the coaches of the demu train in the South district were de-linked to lessen people's participation in the rally. He said that a similar incident was reported from other parts of the state, where the owners of buses and other vehicles were restricted from renting vehicles to the CPI-M party workers.
"While many of our party workers were attacked by the hooligans of the ruling party, while they were returning to their home from the rally, on the other hand, the miscreants are continuously threatening our party workers," he alleged.
On the other hand, the CPI-M leader ruled out electoral alliance with other parties and said, "As of now we have not thought of any electoral alliance with other parties, but we called all the anti-BJP forces and oppositions for a united resistance against the fascist party of the BJP and hence this is not any electoral alliance."
He however, termed the party's rally at Vivekananda Ground as 'historic' and reflection of the public's disgrace towards BJP. "The rally evoked massive response as people from different parts of the state and also from the ADC areas participated in the rally in large numbers despite the hooliganism of the saffron brigades.
