BJP Youth leader's death sparks tension; Tripura CM orders probe

The sudden death of Rahul Kishore Roy, a prominent BJP youth leader and councillor, has cast a shadow over North Tripura’s political landscape, prompting Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to issue a heartfelt condolence and call for a thorough investigation.

Roy, who served as Mandal president of BJP Yuva Morcha and councillor of Ward No. 5 under Dharmanagar Municipal Council, was discovered lifeless in his home bathroom under circumstances that remain unclear. A saffron party scarf was reportedly tied around his neck, intensifying speculation over whether the incident was a suicide or the result of foul play.

In his message, CM Saha expressed “deep grief at the untimely demise” and assured the bereaved family that the allegations raised by Roy’s wife would be examined with full impartiality. He emphasized that justice and transparency would guide the inquiry, with legal action to follow based on the findings.

The family’s accusations have added weight to the tragedy. Roy’s wife alleged that a group of BJP youth leaders attempted to attack him twice on the eve of the Dharmanagar by-election results, accusing him of working against the party candidate. The incident coincided with victory celebrations in the town, fueling suspicions of factional strife within the party.

Meanwhile, locals note that the image of the young leader’s final journey, marked by the party scarf around his neck, has stirred public emotion and sharpened debate over internal conflicts.

Police have initiated an investigation, but the atmosphere in Dharmanagar remains tense. The case has quickly become a flashpoint in Tripura’s political discourse, raising urgent questions about party unity, worker safety, and accountability.
