Blockade on NH: FIR against doctor, 17 others in Tripura

An FIR has been filed against a doctor and 17 others in connection with a blockade on the national highway at 82 Mile area in Dhalai district of Tripura.

According to a government press release, on May 15 last, the road blockade staged by some local people at Kalibari Tri-Junction under Manu police station at around 9.30 am had disrupted the normal traffic.

The protest was staged regarding transfer of one doctor namely Dr. Akash Bhowmik of 82 mile Primary Health Centre.

Later, the road blockade was removed by the Police.

The complaint has been lodged against 18 persons including Dr. Akash Bhowmik for their involvement in road blockade on NH-8 and causing disruption of vehicular movement and public hardship.

The case has been registered under section 8(B) of the National High Way Act 1956 and 126 (1)/ 61(2) of BNS. The investigation is in progress.
