Agartala, April 22: Every year on the 23rd of April, Manipur commemorates Manipuri warriors who battled against the British, especially Major Paona Brajabashi. To pay homage to the brave hearts a blood donation camp was organised by Puthiba Welfare and Cultural Society at Agartala on Saturday afternoon.
The camp was attended by Mayor of Agartala, Dipak Majumder and others. Speaking on the occasion, Dipak Majumder said, “The best religion we can follow is to serve people and one of the best ways to serve people is through blood donations.” He added, “There is no alternative to blood, people in need of blood can only get it if we donate it to them. Please come forward and save lives.”
Another blood donation camp was organised at Young Corner Club on Saturday morning.
The camp was attended by Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Sushanta Chowdhury, Youth and Sports Minister, Tinku Roy, BJP State president, Rajib Bhattacharjee and others.
While speaking, Tinku Roy said, “Youth organizations must work towards a drug-free society. All the citizens must take the responsibility to eradicate the use of drugs in the state.”
Sushanta Chowdhury hailed the initiative saying, “You are not only helping society by donating blood, you are also going under a blood checkup once you donate your blood. If there is any issue in your donated blood the health workers will inform you and as a result, you can go for treatment of the illness.”
Rajiv Bhattacharjee also thanked the organizers.
