Agartala, Apr 18: Blood is the most expensive gift that we can give to others. Donation of one unit of blood can benefit 3 to 4 persons, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
He attended a blood donation camp organised by the West District Committee of All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association at the seminar hall of Dr. BRAM Nursing School, IGM Hospital.
The Chief Minister said, with the spontaneous response from various social and other organizations in organizing blood donation camps has been able to mitigate the crisis in blood banks to a great extent. But the demand for blood would continue to exist. In this view, the noble initiative of blood donation needs to be carried out, Dr. Saha said.
Speaking in the programme, the Chief Minister said, blood has no religion, gender or political colour. Donation of blood gives us a sense of unity.
The Chief Minister lauded All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association for organizing the blood donation camp in every district of the state on the same day. The Chief Minister said, it must be taken care of that blood never goes wasted and that the supply of blood is maintained.
The Chief Minister called upon everyone to come forward in building drugs-free Tripura. He said, the state government has taken up a zero tolerance policy in the fight against drugs.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Health Secretary Dr. Debashish Basu, Medical Superintendent in-charge of IGM Hospital Dr. Sumit Debbarma and other dignitaries were present.
The welcome speech was delivered by Secretary of All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association Dr. Kanak Choudhury. The vote of thanks was delivered by president of ATGDA Dr. Pradip Kumar Debbarma.
